It was Saturday, November 30th. The day when all esac members finally had an excuse to lift their family up the climbing wall!
Our stories about high altitudes and 'sketchy' passes could finally be explained to our frightened mothers in real life. Tough statements from fathers like 'I could do that too' or it doesn’t look that hard' could now be refuted. Brothers and sisters who found the whole concept of 'collecting bruises for your fun' far-fetched could finally understand this! It was a day full of expectations and anticipation.
From 16:00-20:00 Neoliet Noord was filled with a less standard climbing level ratio. Climbers in 4s were encouraged to come back down with pride. Parents were talking enthusiastically with each other about how high they had gotten. Even family members who indicated beforehand, due to fear of heights, that they didn't dare to go any further than 3 meters, sometimes came to the top. Surprised by their own abilities, they realized how much fun this sport really was.
After all family members had climbed different routes, the esac members got itchy fingers. Let's show them how it really is done. Ambitiously difficult routes were climbed while admiring family members looked up with cramps in their necks.
But watching didn’t endure very long, the speed wall was spotted! Time for a competition. Who gets to the top the quickest? The fear of heights was thrown aside and the timer was turned on.
When everyone was scrambled, Neoliet filled with the smell of pizza! Time to eat together and have a chat. How long has your child been climbing the esac? Do you also always get to hear the dangerous stories? It's harder and more fun than I thought!
And with
many statements from family members that they would like to do this again, this
beautiful activity was brought to an end.
