Dear Members,
I would like to ask your attention once more.
Attention for the annual report of the 42th year of the ESAC
A year in which we as the 42nd ESAC board have tried to take the association one step higher and further.
This year began on March 6, 2018,
In this year we have organized and undertaken a variety of activities together.
This is how our board year started with a pleasant barbecue with our instructors and a nice dinner with Dirk. After all, they are the pivot of our association.
This was followed by baking a delicious butter cake at Mirte's home. After all, the SAC from Twente had stolen our flag at the DIES and we had to earn it back with a cake at the Bata. A cake to remember!
Of course, the Totathlon was also organized again, hunting for the teams. Unfortunately, we as the board took a long time to be able to determine the result, because we had the priorities somewhere else. But with this we can report that the Laurens, Marieke and Marie team have still won this challenging activity.
On a beautiful Tuesday evening sometime in May we went to a nice cafe. Not yet aware then how the evening would go. An evening that, to put it mildly, got out of hand, puking on stage or knocked out on the toilet. The only bright spot on the evening was that our club flag was still in our midst.
To see our old balls again, we organized the OBBBQ, the Old Balls BarBeQue. Young and old, read from 3 to 60 years of age enjoyed themselves that evening.
For example, we stood at the CoBo of AllTerrain in Kix with a slide and it became an unforgettable evening. Sliding drunk in the pub, AT had not yet received such a beautiful gift.
At the end of May, former Chairman Guus, of the 36th board, came to Neoliet South to tell a nice story about his expedition to the Pamir. A lecture that serves as an example and hopefully led to a lot of inspiration.
After this lecture we left for the Alps where we all enjoyed ourselves in that beautiful rolling landscape with peaks and valleys. The EBI descended this year in the Otztal where the ESAC sports-climbing enthusiast had everything in front of them.
During the intro new members came to see, members also interested in our great activities. 41 New freshmen enrolled and did the Introduction period with us.
We organized a nice lecture for them, a lecture by Jelle Staleman. For this we even rented the Blue Room and together with the Region provided a great lecture.
In addition, there was a nice Pub Quiz organized by the AC on October 2 and the last weekend in the sun went to Hotton. A weekend where 40 climbing ESAC mountain goats took part.
This year we again participated as an association in that beautiful race between all SACs, the Battle of the SACs also called BotS. Amongst them two board members who were passionate about winning and did so!
A week later, another great SAC event, where we, ESAC, once again ruled. The NSKB, organized in the renewed Monk by seven enthusiastic ESAC people. Nobody expected that there would be so many participants, a tight and cool event!
At the beginning of December, Alpinist and ESAC'er Rik, Rik van Odenhoven, came to tell his story about his participation in the NKBV Expedition Academy. A lecture with which he tried to make us enthusiastic about Mountaineering.
This year was again dominated by you, active members. That brought us all to the SSC where we did Acro Yoga for the afternoon and did physical impossibilities. We ended that with good food at the Burgers tent.
Not much later the next big party was already organized, the DIES! 43 Years of ESAC was celebrated in the typical Brabant way, young! BAM!
The end of our board year was approaching rapidly, which we did not want to let pass us by. That said, we organized a climbing marathon in Neoliet Noord where 42 routes were topped.
What you just heard were just a small range of all our great activities.
In addition to all these great fun activities, the board has also been active at policy level this year.
The financial situation of our association has been mapped out by the Financial Directive. As a result, we as a association can pursue a sound financial policy. In addition to this guideline, a plan has also been drawn up for the coming years, the Multi-Year Policy Plan. Three spearheads have been established in this; guaranteeing continuity, professionalizing and offering recreational sport. In addition, we as a board have also been working on the AVG, that personal data law that we as association had to deal with. At some point we were done with all this paperwork and those meetings, many of them!
No sooner said than done, we have updated the Library, Editors have been established and the EB has been given new life. In addition, we have introduced the light-emitting ESAC Nalgene.
In addition, we as board have exceptionally shifted our personal limits. This year was all about HighHopes. HighHopes that were set for every BV and hopefully achieved.
But besides all these HighHopes many things went wrong. For example, Paul broke his fingers in four and I screwed up my ring finger during the TriggerFinger final. Moreover, the Bata did not go completely smoothly, financially speaking. And what went completely wrong was our Alpine tour. Tried twice and still not reached the top.
But luckily things went well and we set ourselves the goal of achieving HighHopes like the following.
For example, Paul 7b wanted to climb toprope and beat Looi with TriggerFinger.
Become a Myrtle SKB before all her butter has run out of her fridge and she has climbed a route in the pre-climbing roof without falling. Moreover, it set itself the goal of not entering the calendar.
He didn't want to puke Glenn during our CoBo and he wanted to learn how to wax skis.
Joep went abseiling from his bedroom and skied a couloir and at the same time made a running photo.
Jan ran the marathon and set the goal of not having a hangover after the CoBo.
For example, I wanted to win and chair the BotS at the top of the Wildspitze.
In addition, as a board we almost fully participated in the Alpine C courses of the NSAC, we did ice climbing, scouting and a lot of hard climbing.
Ultimate goals such as the marathon, winning the BotS, climbing faster than Looi and naked skiing were achieved! But so also two board members slammed their finger while climbing, the two fastest climbing board members.
In addition, up to now 7A AK has not yet climbed, or the half marathon has been running in an hour and a half, or the K2 has been skipped and there has not yet been registered for an adventure race of 65 hours.
Nevertheless, we as a board look back on a very challenging, adventurous and especially TOF year!
As shown in this extensive annual report, we have kept our promises.
We started climbing fast, we brought the Alps more to the attention and a financial plan was made.
But one important component is missing from this list.
A component, also known as a policy point, that we have been working on for years. Hidden and attempted secret here and there to record our "being" as a board at those small silent moments of our association. Something that has been discussed for years, which is seen as an illusion and not possible, turns out to be true.
To end this year as promised, I want to proudly present our running calendar. A calendar with 12 cool attractive portraits in adam costume of almost the entire board.
Thank you for your attention!
Jacco Pereboom - Chairman 42nd board
