WEBI: Tourski-introduction

Interested, but not yet convinced, I attended the presentation about the WEBI in mid-November. The photos looked amazing and the stories promised a lot (by the way, nothing was said too much). As an inexperienced touring skier, the introductory course offered a great opportunity. In short, 10 minutes later I was convinced and I was one of the first to sign up for a week of (guided) snow fun.

It was a great week, with beautiful tours and lots of fun. The weather was mostly great, including a beautiful first day so that you could get used to skis under your feet while walking up. On Monday afternoon we were able to take a short break, "alpine style", with a wind raging over a ridge, snow in your face and hardly any visibility. And what do you do as a group when the tension diminishes? - then you sing, things like "life is life" ... Afterwards (instructor) David said he thought it was a strong contrast to his own worries about the circumstances at the time. Later in the week, technical training was also, not entirely planned by the way, covered when we as a group chose a route over a relatively steep stretch of snow, 2 hours later everyone could dream the Spitzkehre ... And then, at the best moment of the day (that is in the night) there was quite a bit of snow, so that the winter conditions could still be enjoyed for two more days.

Thank you everyone for the great week, especially David and Jan and in particular the WEBI committee!

“Whoever climbs the mountain just because he thinks something must be upstairs will always ask when he comes upstairs: what did it all serve? Only those who enjoy climbing and the view of themselves on the way will perhaps understand that nothing needs to be used for nothing. ”- Wim Kan
(Regarding ski touring (mountaineering), Jan could have said the same ...)
