Less than a year after the relocation, Monk Eindhoven served as the battleground for the Dutch Student Championships Boulderen 2018. More than 200 students from all corners of the country had traveled to Eindhoven for a chance on the prizes. About 40 boulder problems, varying from 4th to high in the 7th degree, served as the battlefield for the qualification round. Climbers from all levels climbed fanatically and some boulderaars went on until their fingertips were bleeding.
The best six ladies and six men qualified for the finals. While they were waiting in isolation for the start of the final, everyone could quietly satisfy his hunger. For the finals, three-men final boulders and three ladies final boulders were set on which the decisive strength measurements would take place. In both categories the spectators were kept on the tip of their seats until the last minutes. With both the Ladies and Gentlemen, the decision only fell with the last climber on the last boulder. In the ladies Aniek Lith just managed to beat Marieke Berends 'local hero' and in the men Eindhoven Elko Schellingerhout managed to stay ahead of the Dutch champion, Don van Laere, with a creative solution from the last boulder to defend his title.
