Introweekend 1 - Pont-a-Lesse

ESAC Intro weekend: Pont-à-Lesse

In the last sunny weekend of September it was time for the first intro weekend: beautiful climbing in the south of Belgium on a side branch of the Meuse. We exchanged the climbing hall for rock, something completely different than plastic handles, witness the many bruises, small cuts and dirty climbing shoes that people came back with.

It was, in short, a great experience: not only are the Ardennes a beautiful environment, but the outdoor feeling is wonderful too. In the morning freezing cold, in the afternoon blood is called on the rocks, in the evening cooking with a headlight above a gas burner and until late at the campfire.

There seems to be an element of creativity linked to rock climbing that you can not match with the routes from a climbing hall. Where is your next grip, can I lose my foot on that rock? And do not forget: if I turn around now, how is my view? Climbing on rocks certainly tastes like more.

May there be many great weekends!
