General information

Do you already have experience with outdoor multipitch-climbing and do you want to make the next step? Then this course is what you are looking for.

Trad climbing differs from what we know as climbing outdoors in a number of things. The most obvious difference is that you need to place your own protection to be able to climb safely. It's the next level of experiencing the adventures of climbing outside and self-reliance. 

Course content

During one evening, all the techniques will be taught in the climbing gym. Here you will learn everything needed to know for independent outdoor  trad climbing.  A total of one Trad weekend is organized, which you need to join, you need to sign up for these weekends yourself. Afterwards you will receive the NKBV climbing proficiency certificate for outdoor leadclimbing  trad and you can participate independently on climbing weekends, as well as rent the ESAC cams!

Registration

There are 6 spots for this course. You can register here up to and including Wednesday the 7th of May. If there are more valid registrations than places, a selection is made where priority is given to people who organized the course, amount of multipitch experience and activity within the association. 

Entry requirements and expectations

• Have passed the Outdoor mulitpitch (MP) exam. And has extensive amount of independent multipitching experience. 
• Compulsory attendance to the classes (21 May Neoliet, 30-31 May weekend)
• Subscription to the weekend, which is on the agenda.
• Willing to invest in material. If you only have the standard material for multipitching, this is around 60 euros.
• Willing to take out comprehensive mountaineering insurance and annual climbing pass (for access to climbing areas), if you do not yet have it. The most logical option for this is NKBV membership (45 euros), NKBV travel insurance (42 euros) and annual climbing pass (20 euros). In total this is therefore a bit more than 100 euros.

Cost

The costs for the outdoor lead-climbing Trad course is 65.5 euros including the weekend.

• All multipitching material
• 2 extra 120cm slings (kevlar or dyneema)
• 1 extra HMS carabiner
• 1 extra oval carabiner
• 5.5 meters of kevlar or dyneema prusik 6mm
• 3 meters of kevlar or dyneema prusik 6mm
• Microtraxion, if you have it
