Alpcie: Mountaineering week 2019

From 28 Jul 12:00 to 03 Aug 21:00

General information

Are you fond of mountaineering but don’t you like the long run-up for every trip from the valley? The Alpcie has the solution: join the ESAC Alpine Week! The base for this is the refugee part of Bivouac of the Envers des Dorées. This unmanned cabin is located about 15 km north-east of Chamonix at an altitude of almost 3000 meters, in the middle of the glaciers.

The Alpine week lasts from Sunday 28 July to Saturday 3 August. So we sleep 6 nights in the cabin. Due to a subsidy from the ESAC, the costs are only 65 euros for the overnight stays. So if you are a motivated (starting or not) alpinating ESAC member, then this is your chance to gain experience with like-minded in the beautiful Alps! Register quickly! You can register up to and including Sunday 23 June. Your registration is only confirmed if you have transferred 65 euros to NL75 RABO 0117 0524 85 in the name of “Aanmelding Alpenweek 2019 First name Surname” so for example: “Aanmelding Alpenweek 2019 Bjarne Kraak”.

The following conditions apply to Alpine Week:

  • There is room for a maximum of 14 participants, if this is exceeded, a selection will be made by the Alpcie. We look for a good mix between more experienced and beginning alpinists. If there is no room for you, the registration fee (65 euros) will of course be refunded.
  • At least C1 level is expected from each participant.
  • There is no guidance available, so each participant sets off independently with the others.
  • Since the cabin is unmanned, we have to buy food and bring it ourselves. We arrange this together with all participants. All participants are expected to be able to do their shopping from Friday 26 July and also take it to the hut.
  • You must arrange most of the material yourself. A provisional packing list can be found here.  As the Alpenweek is an ESAC activity, renting ESAC material is free this week. However, request the material well in advance from the materials inspector. As indicated in the packing list, part of the material is group material. Not everyone has to take this with them. The Alpcie arranges the material in principle, but it is distributed (in the Netherlands) among the participants.
  • Monday evening, June 24, the day after the registration closes, a preparation evening is organized. Every participant is expected to be there.
  • Every participant provides an NKBV mountaineering insurance.

The Alpine Commission is looking forward to the Alpine Week! See you in the Alps!
